Don Clowes is an engineer with the Delphi Corporation and is a graduate of Youngstown State University. Additionally with SRW, he currently is co-chairman of the Clean Up Committee and has previously held office with the SRW board of directors as Secretary and Vice President. Don also is a member of the Cleveland chapter of Muskies Inc. and the Pymatuning Lake Association.

jennifer-barborak.jpg Jennifer Barborak
Jennifer Barborak co-founded SRW with her husband Rick and has served on the board of directors since the organization's inception. Jennifer is a registered nurse, having worked many years in different nursing disciplines. In 2001, she changed career paths after graduating from Slippery Rock University with a BS in Environmental Studies. She currently manages the Macroinvertebrate Laboratory for Wallace & Pancher, Inc., an environmental consulting firm in Hermitage. Jennifer has served on several Mercer County commissions and currently is the chair of the City of Sharon Beautification Commission. For SRW, she co-chairs the Grant Writing Committee and serves on the Development Committee.

Rick Barborak, a Registered Nurse, is currently a clinical supervisor in the GI Lab at Heritage Valley Medical Center in Beaver Valley, PA. He co-founded the Shenango River Watchers with wife, Jennifer and serves as co-chair of the Clean Up and Recycling Committee. A lifelong resident of the Shenango Valley, Rick spent a lot of time on the Shenango River fishing and boating. Rick enjoys fly-fishing, hunting, hiking and canoeing and is a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder, rarely missing a home game. He enjoys spending time outdoors with Jennifer and their daughter, Emma, and looks forward to the family's annual treks to Algonquin Park in Canada.
hugh-clark.jpg Hugh Clark
Hugh is a retired commercial property manager and more recently, a substitute teacher. He and his wife Tamara live near Jamestown, PA. They both kayak and canoe, enjoy fly fishing and camping. Hugh is active with the Jamestown Lions and works hard to integrate the activities of the Jamestown and Greenville Lions with those of the SRWs. Hugh is co-chair of the grant writing committee, and is project manager for our Shenango River Water Trail endeavor. He is also a Life Member of Trout Unlimited, a member of the Nature Conservancy, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the National Parks Conservation Association, and the Mercer County Trails Association.
joyce-cuff.jpg Joyce Cuff
Dr. Joyce Cuff, an award winning educator, is a professor of biology and the Paul M. Rike Professor of Life Sciences at Thiel College. She has served on the SRW board of directors since its inception and has served as chair of its education committee and research committee. She is also active in the Greenville, PA community and serves as consultant for the Greenville Water Authority. In addition to sharing her expertise and knowledge to improve the Shenango River Watershed, her efforts have extended to communities throughout the world and in 1996 she earned a Fullbright Award for Teaching and Research in Tanzania, East Africa and in 2002 conducted research on water quality issues in Ghana.

John is an independent software consultant. He was raised in Alaska where he developed a strong appreciation for the outdoors. He moved to Sharon PA in 2004. A board member since August 2009, he manages the River Watchers web site.
daniel-godinich.jpg Dan Godinich
Dan Godinich is an attorney at Evans, Garvey, Lackey & Ochs in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He is originally from Greenville and he attended Grove City College and Duquesne University School of Law. He currently resides in Ellwood City with his wife Jessica and daughter Abby and is looking forward to relocating to Mercer County in the near future. Dan joined the SRW Board in March, 2010. He and his family enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

Anna Mary Hoovler has been a member of SRW since it's inception and currently serves as co-chair of the development committee. She is a native of the Shenango Valley, a graduate of Penn State University and has thirty years experience in special project planning and administration. She returned to the area in 1997 and is an advancement associate at Thiel College. In 2003 she received a Leadership Shenango Outstanding Participant Award. Anna Mary encourages all who have an appreciation for the history, environment and heritage of Western, PA and the Shenango River watershed to become an SRW member.

Gwendolyn is a lifelong resident of Sharon, a graduate of Sharon High School and of Kutztown University of PA with a degree in Communication Design. Employed as a graphic artist and freelance artisan for 15 years, Gwendolyn has been responsible for the publication of the SRW newsletter for the past 6 years. Additionally, she has been a board member for the past 4 years and is co-chair of the Development Committee.

Joel is a graduate of Hickory High School, Youngstown State University, and the Mercyhurst Municipal Police Training Academy (with honors). While at YSU he was elected Vice President of the Youngstown Chapter of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. He is currently a Detective with the Hermitage Police Department and a Member of the Pennsylvania State Police Northwest Region Computer Crime Task Force. On the Shenango River Watchers Board of Directors since 2004, he serves on the Budget and Finance Committee. Joel had attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout, is a member of the Hermitage Rotary and enjoys many outdoor activities.

Mark Russell is a teacher with the Greenville Area School District and a graduate of Thiel College and Clarion Univeristy, where he continues to do seasonal work as an ecology researcher. Additionally with SRW, he currently is a member of a steering committee for an ongoing river cleanup project. Mark also is a member of the Youngstown State Biology Department thesis review committee, Ducks Unlimited, Arbour Day Foundation, and The American Chestnut Foundation.

In Memoriam

del-williams.jpg Del Williams (Vice President)
Del Williams retired from Deluxe Check Printers, Inc. as a production manager after 35 years service. He returned to the Shenango Valley in 1997 and worked for The City of Sharon as a Code Enforcement Officer. He has been on the Board of Directors since it's inception and has enjoyed seeing SRW grow and the river improve. Del passed away September 5, 2010. He is missed.
