Earth Day Clean Up and Recycling Event — April 17
Our Clean Ups to celebrate Earth Day were in advance of Earth Day this year. We like April to do our Clean Ups for a host of reasons, but April can give you some rude surprises. This year we got one in the form of wind, sleet, snow, and some temperatures less that ideal. That said, we are happy to report that a hardy bunch of volunteers made their way to both Sharon and Jamestown to brave these conditions and make our day a success at both places. Read more...
Seventh Annual Banquet
The seventh annual banquet was held Saturday October 24 at the Shenango Valley Civic Center, Pitt Street, Sharon PA. Read the Sharon Herald article about the event.
Tom Mowery, owner of Mowery Trucking and Excavating in Jamestown, was presented with the 2009 Business Friend of the River award for donating his time and equipment to the annual Earth Day cleanup in April.
Robert Downing, who owns property along the Shenango River in Hermitage and Sharpsville, was presented with the 2009 Individual Friend of the River award for his longtime efforts to keep the river adjacent to his property clean and accessible.
