Shenango River Watchers Canoe Clean Up — June 19
The Ohio River Sweep, a multi-state clean up effort along the Ohio River, will be held on June 19. Since the Shenango River is a part of the Ohio River Watershed, we will be cleaning some of our part of it on this day as well.
SRW will be holding a canoe clean up originating from the Budd Street Canoe Launch in Sharon starting at around 9:00 AM. A limited number of canoes are available for members use on a first come, first serve basis. All are welcome to bring their own canoes or kayaks as we paddle the waters of the downtown Sharon area to work on this section of the Shenango River. For those who like to keep their feet on land we will also be working to clean the land and river bank areas in and around the canoe launch. We hope to conclude around noon.
If you can help us out on June 19th please pre-register by calling our office so we can arrange for canoes and plan accordingly. This will be a rain or shine event, but in the event of very high, fast water, the use of canoes may be revised. River flows can be checked at the US Army Corps of Engineers Shenango Reservoir information number 724-962-4384.
Fundraising Picnic — Saturday June 26
We will be having a Fundraising Picnic on Saturday, June 26th at the Mercer County Shrine Club Picnic Grounds on Lamor Road in Hermitage. Doors open at 4:00pm, picnic food served at 5:00pm. Lots of activities are planned including a Chinese Auction, Basketball Shoot Out with food being provided by The Buzzard Box and a band for entertainment. Tickets are $20 per adult and $15 for children 12 and under. Please contact the SRW office for YOUR ticket.
